rebelled against the commandment
a. Main Idea
6:24 - And the LORD commands us to do all his statutes, to fear the LORD out God, for out good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
b. Reason Written
6:25 - And it shall be out righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
c. Atmosphere (slight paraphrase)
Where? 1:1-2 - [Near] the Jordan in the wilderness, in the plain over against the Red sea, between Paran and Tophel, and Laban, and Hazeroth, and Dizahab - eleven days journey from Horeb by the way of mount Seir unto Kedesh-barnea.
When? 1:3-4 - fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first day of the month after he had slain Sihon and Og.
You use what translation you prefer. Most SBS classes use the NRSV (years ago, I noticed a couple use the ESV. NASB used to be the standard for a couple schools in America)
Precept Ministries prefers the NASB, but lets students choose their preference.
I highly encourage you not to use a paraphrase. Literal translation is best to do. This is a study, not a reading.
We need to study word by word as best as possible, not phrase by phrase or concept by concept.
This is not a place for translation topics. I have my own reasons for why I use the translation I use, and may put a brief overview of the Bible whole translation debate looking at all angles on ebfl.org in the future, but for EBFL unless God says otherwise, Bible translation debate is not what God has called me to do.
From a statistic I heard on a commercial on a Christian radio station when I was a teenager, most professing believers have not read the Bible even one time- the average house in America has 7 Bibles.
What I am saying, most households have 7 dust collectors. Most likely of various translations.
Lets start somewhere, and seek Jesus completely. He will work in us and through us and guide us in the choices we make.
Serve the King!
I am following primarily the study materials from this website
The Method
I am not a student or a staff member. I am grateful for the free resources they provide!!
I may use some of what I learned though
Precept Ministries
This is the first time I am actually doing a complete study of a Book! Pray for me, and any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
